A dark lot, and a simpler way to light it

A dark parking lot is a problem you may have to explain if someone gets hurt. Lighting does not decide a claim by itself. What you can control is simple: which heads are out, and getting them replaced.

People often call an electrician for that. The electrician usually bills the bucket truck as its own charge, on top of the electrical work.

Perspective1 Sign already has the trucks. The install price includes the lift.

  • $399 per light installed for a 150-watt metal-halide to LED conversion
  • $100 more per light for the 320-watt
  • 3-year warranty

We do not put a dollar amount on someone else's lift, and we do not promise to beat a lower price. If the other quote already includes a lift, compare the two written numbers.

The price is the conversion on the heads we quote. It is not a lighting study. If you need the lot checked against a named standard, say so when you ask for the quote.

There is no single public number for how bright a commercial lot has to be. The current guide is ANSI/IES RP-8 (2025), and the numeric tables are not published for free. Older figures people repeat, such as 0.2 footcandles, come from a 2013 Department of Energy guide of a 1998 practice, not from that current guide.
